I recently installed windows 7 on my Laptop so I had the same problem an hour ago.

Just download these drivers from the ftdi site, then go to the device manager and go to the preferences  of USBGecko (might be displayed as unrecognizable hardware) and go to the driver tab and install/update drivers.
Just let it look in the file you just downloaded.

HBC will recognize the USBGecko but if you want to hack games then you need to download Gecko.

Put it in slot b, if HBC recognizes the USBGecko the small picture of a gecko in the bottom right will be white.

is your Gecko being detected on Wii side.. HBC will show a white Gecko sign in the lower corner..

Basically the drivers being shipped with Windows 7 are not the newest but new enough so that WiiRd and Gecko dotNET should work out of the box!

Ya the gecko is white in HBC I'm using gecko 1.9.3 to launch the game but when the game starts it says cannot connect to gecko. At one point using geckodotnet it did launch the game itself but when game started it said cannot connect to gecko and I have tried to reinstall the drivers like 4 times I have the gecko in slot b.

When you start Gecko, go to options and make sure the debugger is set to on.
