Whenever I try to load the game through Gecko OS, I get an error message that the disc can not be read.

I get this.

ERROR #002
An error has occurred.
Press the Eject button, remove the
Game Disc, and turn off the power to
the console.
Please read the Wii Operations Manual
for further instructions.

I hope to get a quick answer, I want to use cheats in this game.

I have this same problem as well but I'm using Ocarina instead of Gecko 1.0 though.

Also, when I try to activate codes for New Super Mario Bros Wii, I ended up with a code dump screen.  I have version 4.1U.

Please help, thank you.

I forgot to add that I am using a 2 GB memory card, if this is the problem, would buying 1GB fix this?

Your problem is that you're using Ocarina. You should switch to the latest version of Gecko because Ocarina doesn't have the necessary components to properly run the game. The SD card doesn't make a difference.

*As a side note regarding NSMB*

We played the game on my Friend's wii, which is unmodded, and it did the system update, but here's the weird thing. The update ate up a LOT of his Wii memory (knocking it down to 0). Anybody know how much space the update that NSMB contains, because we both found this very strange.

Alright, I already downloaded the latest Gecko app.  However, when I tried to covert my cheat codes from txt to crt via WiiCM, I end up with a code dump.  I tried downloading and installing "Cheat Manager" version 0.3, however when I opened this app, all I see is the cheat manager title at the top and a black area below it, nothing else. (This also happened before I updated my Wii via NSMBW)

Shouldn't the cheats be a .gct file?
And for the Cheat Manager app, I believe you need to create a folder in the root menu as codes or cheats or something and place the .txt files into it.

Yeah, I mean gct file, sorry.

I already did, I created one folder per game and placed them in the "codes" folder.  I am able to view and turn the codes on and off but when i pressed the home button after the caution screen, I end up with a code dump screen.

I encountered the same problem as you. Could you please tell me how to solve?

Do you have the latest version of Gecko?

No. I am using Gecko 1.0.7 OS and Homebrew 1.0.1. I understand that I need to upgrade to Gecko 1.9.3, can you explain to me how, step by step? I think my current Homebrew allow update 1.0.1 to 1.0.6, does that help?

If I upgrade to Gecko 1.9.3, is the OS become 4.2? Mine is currently 3.2. Can you please help? Thanks.
