i would check myself but my nintendo wiis away at the moment. according to wiibrew 4.0 has been released (wheres 3.5,3.6...etc.??)

25 March 09: Nintendo has released System Menu 4.0, which includes a batch of IOS updates. Updating is not recommended at this point.

Edit by Link: 4.1 was released which is essentially just a quick patch to 4.0 - no new special protections were added with 4.1 so all 4.0 vulneribilities apply to 4.0!

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/System_Menu_4.0

its actually seems like a good update, kills homebrew but at least it does other things which are useful

i just read it, it does seem good but i cant do it!

Version 4.0 of the System Menu is yet to be announced and was released on March 25th, 2009. Presumably will be announced in the next few minutes of Satoru Iwata's GDC talk. This menu includes as-of-yet not officially announced features related to launching/copying channels from an SD card.

The announcement lists these changes:

Virtual Console/WiiWare titles can be launched and downloaded directly from a SD card.
Shows up as its own set of channels: SD Card Menu
SDHC support, up to 32GB
...
The update includes a batch of IOS updates issued a few hours before the System Menu update.

All it blocks is the Gamecube Backup Launcher and the IOS downgrader from working

But wads/GeckoOS/Wii backups all work fine!

even if he does, I do not care.. as long as no information is shared on how people get backups running or where to get them, it's their problem

I want this update but my concern is that with the 3.4 update Nintendo can update your system without you knowing. That comes with the 4.0 update, right? And if WiiConnect24 is turned off wouldn't that stop them from doing what they want?
